Because we carry such a wide range of options, most of our pieces are made to order. They are made especially for you to your specifications. Since it was made just for you, we cannot return most made-to-order pieces to our inventory. If you find that your order is not a perfect fit or if you’d like to change something about it, it is possible that we can help! If you’re unsure about sizing or possible alterations, just reach out and our team would love to assist!
We do carry samples and stock in some of our styles. In stock pieces are always made in 14k or 18k yellow gold and rings are a size 6 or 9. While we keep a wide selection of styles in stock, not every style is available.
All of our in-stock rings are a size 6. We chose 6 as our sample size because it is in the middle of the average ring size range and is easily resizable up or down in most cases. If you are interested in a one-of-a-kind or collection ring and you know your/your partner’s ring size, please allow 2 weeks for resizing. If you are unsure of your/your partner’s ring size, we always recommend taking the ring as is, in a size 6. Your first resize is complimentary and you can take advantage of this service at any time.
Because we offer such a wide selection of band, all of our band styles are made to order. We do keep samples of each styles in stock for clients to try on in store or shipped to your door. Our samples are available in most styles in size 6 and size 9. If you are interested in scheduling a visit to try on our samples, you can do so by click here. To arrange an at home try on, please contact email@example.com.
If you need help determining ring size, the most accurate option is to work with an experienced fine jewelry professional. There are many factors to keep in mind with ring sizing and using an at home kit can often be inaccurate without an expert’s help. Our hands naturally fluctuate in size depending on diet, exercise, and environmental factors. Anatomy should also be considered. If you are unable to visit a fine jeweler to determine ring size or would like to keep it a surprise, we recommend selecting a size 6 and returning for resizing once you have determined proper sizing. In cases where we are unable to resize, a new piece will be made for you instead.
We strongly encourage you to insure all of your fine jewelry pieces. If you have a current insurance policy, it is possible that you will be able to add your pieces onto your coverage. If you are starting a new policy, we recommend Jewelers Mutual.
All of our pieces over $5,000 come with a complimentary, third-party appraisal report compiled by a certified Graduate Gemologist. This report provides all of the information required to insure your fine jewelry piece. We are happy to provide appraisals upon request for items under $5,000 for an additional $150.
Gemstone Grading Reports
Many of our pieces with diamonds over 0.50 ct. come with a complimentary GIA Grading Report. You can view this information on our site by clicking on the stone information in the 'Item Details' section of the product page. You will be redirected to GIA's website where you can view the report in full. A physical copy of this information will accompany your order.
For stones that do not include a complimentary grading report, we are happy to add this service for a small fee. Please contact us in advance of your order to inquire about pricing.
Jewelry Terms & Conditions
Your purchase confirms that you have been provided with proper care information. With your purchase, you acknowledge that proper wear, care, and maintenance of your Mociun jewelry was explained and that you agree to Mociun’s terms, including our returns/exchanges, warranty, and repair policies. If your order was purchased as a gift, we encourage the recipient to visit in-person or reference our care guide to review the care of their piece.
Custom Terms & Conditions
Please carefully read and review all information below. These terms and conditions are non-negotiable and offer no exceptions under any circumstances.
Deposit To begin working on a custom project, a deposit of $1,000 is required. This deposit allows our team to source any required materials for your project. It is important to note that this deposit, as well as any other payments made before the balance is paid in full, is non-refundable and non-transferable. This deposit is applied toward the total price of your finished piece. Should you choose not to proceed with the program, this deposit may be used to return any materials you have provided via UPS Next Day shipping, fully insured with a signature required upon delivery. Our team spends a great deal of time on each custom project; for this reason deposits cannot be returned or applied toward another purchase if you choose not to move forward with your custom piece.
You will receive an email containing a link to provide your deposit securely through our website. Payment of this deposit confirms your understanding and compliance with our terms. If you have any questions or at all unclear on any terms, please discuss them with our team prior to making your deposit.
Heirloom Stones & Resetting
We pride ourselves in our selective inventory of unique stones handpicked by our team and do not work with any outside purchased stones for custom designs. We are happy to consider working with clients’ personal stones for sentimental reasons, but we ask that you leave the use of the stones up to our discretion when working on your piece.
We also love working with our clients’ current fine jewelry pieces! Our team works with engagement rings, antique treasures, single earrings who've lost their mate, and family keepsakes; reimagining them into modern heirlooms.
To help streamline the design process, provide heirloom stones prior to your consultation. Upon completion of this agreement, please send to us the item(s) or loose stone(s) that you wish to rework. If your stone(s) is currently mounted or in a setting, our team of jewelers can remove them for you or you may choose to have them removed by a local jewelry prior to sending them to us. We recommend shipping insured via UPS with a signature upon delivery. Mociun is not responsible for items before they are delivered so these steps can help to ensure that your item(s) are protected at all times. Shipments should be sent the the following address:
Mociun 683 Driggs Ave Brooklyn, NY 11211
Once your shipment is delivered to us, our team will immediately send a confirmation of receipt.
If you are able to visit our store, you are also welcome to schedule an appointment and drop off any materials in person. Our staff will be happy to assist you in scheduling your visit should you need any help.
Your Stones & Original Setting
If your gemstone(s) are sent to us in a setting, our jewelers will carefully remove them. Please note that the complexity of this process varies depending on the setting and some are more difficult than others. While our jewelers take every precaution and are highly skilled, in some cases damage to the setting may occur. Mociun is not responsible for any damage that occurs to personal stones during unmounting.
If you wish to have the setting returned to you with your completed piece, we will safely store it for you until your new Mociun piece is ready.
You may also seek a credit toward your project if you would like us to recycle the setting. We are unable to recycle your original setting directly into your new setting due to unique alloy mixtures and integral concerns. Please indicate which option you would prefer prior to shipping. Recycling credits are based on weight and the exact price of the materials on a daily basis. Our team will inform you of your credit amount when the stone(s) have been removed from your original setting.
If the gemstone(s) you have provided has not already been graded by the Gemological Institute of America or American Gemological Laboratories, our team will initiate this process upon receipt. This process can take up to four weeks. If you’d prefer not to have your stones graded, just let us know.
Once completed, our team will be in touch with your grading report and help you schedule a design consultation.
Your design consultation is as personal as your project and can be structured however you like. Many clients choose to meet in person or virtually over Zoom, but consultations can also take place over the phone or email, or any combination of these mediums. Whether you are meeting with us in person or virtually, it is very important to provide us with as much information on your project as possible prior to our consultation. This information allows us to source stones and prepare options for you to choose from during your consultation. If your budget or vision changes prior to your consultation, please let us know so that we can adjust accordingly.
Prior to your consultation: Review our gallery for design inspiration Determine your ring size if you are creating a ring: You can find more information on this step in our Fine Jewelry FAQs. If you are designing this piece for someone else and are unsure of their ring size, our team will be able to advise you on sizing considerations. Your ring will be made in the size of your choice. If you ever need an adjustment, our team can help! Keep in mind that resizing may be limited for certain designs and can impact the structure of your setting. Alteration options vary by style and can be performed for a fee. If your design consultation is virtual, please clear up to two hours of your time and make sure that you are in a quiet place with a stable internet connection.
During your appointment, our team will discuss design considerations and show you potential diamond and gemstone options and layouts to help you settle on the perfect style.
Ring design components:
Ring size: Your custom ring is made in the size of your choice. If you are designing for someone else and would like to keep it a surprise, we’re happy to advise on sizing. Future sizing adjustments are available for a small fee but keep in mind that any alterations to the setting do have an impact on the structure of your ring. Excessive resizes can eventually impact the integrity of the ring and may require complex and expensive work to address. Please consult our team on sizing and fit so that we can help you determine the best options.
Metal: We typically make our pieces in 18k yellow gold but also work with 14k gold in rose, yellow, and white, 18k gold in rose and white, as well as platinum. Settings: Most stones can be secured in your choice of round prong, flat prong, full bezel, or modified bezel settings. Depending on your setting preference, there may be additional options such as number of prongs, shape, and orientation.
Basket: Some styles can be made with an open basket to reveal more of your stone(s). Closed baskets are also an option.
Shank width: Most of our pieces are made with a 1.7mm band. While we do not offer a thinner option due to structural concerns, thicker options are available.
Shank style: Most styles can be made with 1.7mm round, 1.7-3mm square, 1.7-3mm knife edge, 1.7-3mm half round or modifications of square and round to include raised shoulders.

The Fine Print
These instructions provide important information and guidelines for the care of the gemstones and setting of your special Mociun piece. We recommend reading this entire guide for repair and warranty information.
Caring for your Mociun jewelry begins with mindfulness: knowing when to put it on, when to take it off, and when to have it serviced professionally. Our instructions were created specifically for Mociun pieces, but are applicable to all fine jewelry. As a general rule, we advise our clients: If you would not wear a silk blouse or dress to do an activity, it is a good idea to set aside your jewelry as well. Mociun is always available to consult with you about any care questions. You can reach us at email@example.com.
Depending on your lifestyle and occupation, consider removing your jewelry during working hours. Contact with potentially damaging materials can be a daily reality. Professionals in the food, art, or medical industries, for example, may use their hands much more actively than those with office jobs. Please consider our care instructions while deciding whether your workplace is an appropriate environment for your new jewelry.
Although it can be tempting to wear your jewelry all the time, please remove all pieces when:
• Exercising: any strenuous activity including cardio, yoga, lifting weights, swimming, etc. These activities, particularly ones using your hands, put pressure on your pieces, causing them to bend, warp, or for stones to become loose in their settings. Chlorinated water can also react chemically with metals, changing the color, weakening settings, or pitting gold. Something as simple as extended time in water can harm jewelry, even if the damage is not immediately apparent.
• Showering or bathing. Hard water, shampoos, and conditioners can become stuck behind settings, causing damage to your pieces. Soap scum can be hard to remove and causes jewelry to look discolored and grimy.
• Sleeping. The extended heat and pressure that occurs during sleep can wreak havoc on delicate and fine jewelry. Keep a jewelry-appropriate container next to your bed so that you can remove your pieces every night.
• Applying perfumes, lotions, oils, makeup, or hair products. Products can build up on the jewelry, damaging certain stones, dulling their appearance, and requiring more frequent cleaning.
• Cooking, baking, or doing dishes. These activities can cause debris to become lodged in settings and diminish the appearance of your pieces.
• Cleaning, especially with bleach or other harsh chemicals. Harsh chemicals such as bleach can pit metals and weaken settings, causing stone loss.
• Gardening. The pressure from holding gardening tools can cause damage to settings even when wearing gloves. Removing your pieces before gardening also ensures that they remain free from dirt and debris.
• Painting, throwing pottery, or play. These activities are best done with your jewelry safely out of the way.
Avoiding impact, pressure, and extreme temperatures is crucial to promoting the longevity of your jewelry. Gold, gemstones, and even diamonds can chip, crack, scuff, or become scratched if knocked hard enough. Special attention should be paid to stones in prong settings where the prongs can snag or bend on garments and other surfaces. Be mindful that gold is softer as the karat count increases (i.e. 18k gold is softer than 14k).
Do not wear your earrings if the backs are too loose from wear. Mociun is happy to tighten loose backs free of charge. We also offer screw-back posts if you’d prefer a little extra security. Please inquire with our store staff for screw-back pricing.
Checking for loose gemstones For any pieces with stones, especially rings, we recommend having the tightness of the stones checked regularly by a professional. Depending on the amount of wear the piece receives, stones should be checked every four to six months. Stones should also be checked more frequently at home. You can use a simple pinhead to gently tap the surface and sides of the stone and see if they move. We also recommend listening for loose stones by holding your piece between your thumb and middle finger next to your ear while gently striking it with your index finger. We are happy to provide a virtual demonstration for these techniques upon request. If even one stone is moving, refrain from wearing the piece until it can be tightened. We are happy to provide a virtual demonstration of this method.
Micro pavé set stones require extra care from their owner to prevent loss. Stones should be checked at least every month, until you get used to the frequency with which your piece requires service. Never wear a micro pavé piece that has a loose or missing stone, as it’s highly likely that there is at least one other loose stone.
Caring for your precious stones
Precious stones are ordered in ascending levels of hardness from 1 to 10 on the Mohs' scale. Opals and turquoise, which range between 5 and 6.5 respectfully, are more easily scratched, whereas diamonds, at 10, are more likely to do the scratching. The Mohs' scale is a not a linear scale. Instead it ranks gems on a relative scale based on their scratch hardness; so although a sapphire is a 9, a diamond at 10 is many times harder.Being aware of the relative inclination towards scratching/being scratched is important when wearing and storing your jewelry.
Though it is valuable information, there is more to durability than just hardness. Gemologists define durability as a gemstone’s ability to withstand wear, heat, light, household chemicals, and low or high humidity. Since different gemstones have different properties, they have varying tolerances to these stressors. A gemstone’s hardness is a good indicator of how well it will resist scratches and abrasions. In evaluating a gemstone’s durability, gem experts consider three factors: hardness, toughness, and stability. No single gemstone scores a “perfect 10,” so you should weigh all three of these factors when choosing which gemstone or piece of jewelry is right for you and your lifestyle.
Diamonds fall at the far end of the hardness spectrum—they are among the hardest materials on Earth. In fact, they are so hard that they may cause damage to adjacent jewelry. We recommend not wearing a diamond ring next to, or on the same finger as, an opal ring. A loose diamond can also damage its metal setting, which is why it’s important to check for loose stones regularly and have them tightened as needed.
Emeralds are especially fragile due to naturally-occurring inclusions (imperfections in stones). Heat, chemicals, and even intense light can amplify these fractures. As with all fine jewelry, you should avoid impact, extended pressure, and extreme temperatures when wearing your emerald pieces. Emeralds are particularly prone to chipping under these conditions. Emeralds can be treated with oils to reduce the appearance of inclusions. To preserve the appearance of your emerald we recommend bringing it in as desired for re-oiling.
Emerald pieces should be worn with meticulous attention to our care instructions. The safest way to clean an emerald is gently, with lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft toothbrush. Do not use ultrasonic cleaners, steam clears, harsh soaps, detergents, or acetone, even if the packaging says “jewelry cleaner”.
Opals are brittle stones, approximately as hard as glass. They should be worn with special attention to our care instructions, including storage. Opals can become dry and are more susceptible to damage if stored improperly. They are best kept in a soft cotton cloth, or with a piece of cotton wool dabbed with a few drops of water. Ethiopian opals, however, are an exception to this suggestion; they cannot get wet as it may damage them. Opals are also vulnerable to cracking if exposed to rapid changes in temperature.
As soft, organic gemstones pearls require special consideration in order to ensure that their nacre and luster do not become damaged or dulled. The standard rule for wearing pearls is "last thing on, first thing off". By putting your pearls on last it ensures that your perfume has a chance to dry and your cosmetics and other potentially damaging materials do not come in contact with the surface of your pearls. By taking off your pearls first it ensures that your pearls do not get scratched or caught on your garments.
Turquoise is a soft, porous stone that can be susceptible to breakage depending on the lifestyle and care practices of its wearer. For the best results with turquoise, follow our care instructions and remove turquoise pieces when appropriate. Our turquoise cabochons are secured both by jeweler’s epoxy and prongs, but that does not make them invulnerable to cracks, chips, or lost stones. It is not unusual to replace or reset turquoise during the lifespan of a piece of jewelry.
Natural turquoise may change color slightly with age, becoming greener and more variable in tone. This is a totally normal process, and the amount of change can depend upon the body chemistry of the wearer. Improper care, however, can cause a quicker, more noticeable change. Liquids such as lotions, perfumes, oils, or cleaners can accelerate the color change and weaken the stone or setting. If contact with these liquids occurs, clean gently with your fingertips, soap, and lukewarm water.
Cleaning & Storage
Polish your jewelry with a lint-free, 100% cotton cloth. Gentle cleaning with lukewarm water, soap, and a soft toothbrush is also recommended. Always check the tightness of stones before and after cleaning, especially when using a steam cleaner. Never use an ultrasonic cleaner on micro pavé stones, opals, emeralds, or turquoise. Do not brush turquoise—use your fingers to clean. We offer specially formulated Mociun jewelry cleaner than is available for purchase.
Fine jewelry should be stored securely in fabric-lined or leather-lined boxes. Pieces can also be wrapped in soft fabric. We recommend keeping an up-to-date inventory of your collection, including photographs and any appraisals, in the event that an insurance claim or police report needs to be filed.
Repairs & Warranty
Mociun covers the cost of all repairs under normal wear for the first six month after purchase. However, if pieces are noticeably bent, show improper care, or are damaged in any other manner, repairs will be performed at cost. We offer cleaning and stone tightening free of charge on all Mociun pieces. Outside of warranty, Mociun will perform repairs for a fee. Please note, if any jeweler other than Mociun makes alterations or repairs to your jewelry, the Mociun warranty will be voided. We are happy to make minor adjustments to jewelry, including resizing, for an additional fee. For international clients, there may be a local option for repair with trusted jewelers partnered with Mociun.
To initiate a repair, please complete our Repair Authorization Form. Our repairs team will be in touch upon receipt and review of your form.
All shipments sent to Mociun require prior authorization. Shipments sent without prior authorization will be returned to sender. Shipments must be carefully packaged to ensure that items are not damaged in transit. Mociun does not cover shipping costs. We recommend fully insuring all shipments. Please contact your insurance provider to ensure that your shipment is protected and determine your best shipping option.

Promotions & Sales
Since the beginning we’ve valued the rare and unusual, finding it as a source of creativity and inspiration. By pricing our offerings responsibly, we have the ability to pour this into everything that we do. We are able to make sure that our team and our artisans are compensated fairly for their hard work and dedication, and that our clients receive pieces and care that will last a lifetime. Our collections are created and released with intention, not a predetermined seasonal schedule, we believe in supporting artists, and we do not over inflate our prices just to mark them down as a “sale.” You can expect this consistency from us.
We create high quality fine jewelry to celebrate all of life’s special moments and are so honored to have your support. When you connect with our designs, there’s no greater compliment. We want to keep creating and keep working with you all year and for many years to come.
While promotions are not our thing, every few years, we do tend to have a sample sale to clean out our safes and make room for new arrivals. This means retiring old styles, saying good-bye to production samples that never made it to our collection, and retiring floor samples that are gently worn or slightly imperfect. These events are done as needed and never scheduled. Due to their infrequent nature, they should not be anticipated. We always give our existing clients first picks with early access so be sure to sign up for our newsletter to stay in the loop.
