Freelance Human Resource Manager

Mociun is seeking an experienced HR Manager who is interested in working approximately two days per week in our busy and creative office. The successful candidate will utilize their expertise to guide the company as it grows and have leadership responsibilities across our headquarters and retail locations. Ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations, ownership of company policy and procedures, payroll and benefits administration and oversight of culture and environment are the key focuses of the role. The ideal candidate will display a high level of maturity and professionalism, as well as bring a sense of thoughtfulness and sensitivity to the role.

This position reports directly to the Managing Director and is based out of our headquarters at 683 Driggs Ave in Williamsburg Brooklyn.



Payroll and Administration

● Twice monthly payroll for all employees

● Manage employee time punches using the Time & Attendance program in PAYCHEX

● Record and monitor all vacation and sick leave


Policies and Procedures

● Maintain the employee handbook

● Suggest & draft new policies

● Communicate all new policies across the organization

● Maintain all human resources information system records & employee equipment / property records


Compliance with all local, state and federal laws

● Keep the Management Team across all key developments

● Facilitate company wide training where necessary

● Keep policies and procedures updated

● Manage communication with outsourced providers, such as Insurance provider and 401K providers, collaborating regularly.


Talent Acquisition

● Manage job postings

● Set up and facilitate phone screenings and interviews

● Reference checking

● Onboarding new employees

● Act as lead in employee relations - overseeing performance, team building and problem solving

● Organize the performance evaluation calendar and documentation for HQ and retail teams

● Responsible for organizing all employee/company wide training for managers and staff w/ Mociun’s internal HR support


The Ideal Candidate:


● BA / BS in Human Resources

● A minimum of 5 years with specialization in an HR management

● Experience overseeing retail and head office staff

● Expertise in implementing HR best practices across core people functions: compensation and benefits, employee relations and recruiting

● Strong familiarity with New York state employment laws and regulations

● Knowledge and/or experience of federal laws and newly established laws expected

● Strong employee relations experience - coaching and counseling experience is a plus

● Flexibility in schedule - willingness to work closely with our senior management team

● Comfortable with a startup growth environment and building processes from scratch

● Excellent communication skills as well as ability to operate with a high sense of confidentiality

Fine Jewelry Sales Professional

Mociun has opened its new headquarters and fine jewelry flagship in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Due to continued growth we are currently seeking to appoint a talented Sales Associate with a speciality and background in fine jewelry and the luxury market.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about fine jewelry, can build rapport with our clients and have the ability to sell while providing exceptional customer service. You will have relevant industry experience, ideally within luxury fashion and more specifically fine jewelry retail and an in depth knowledge of our products. Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate a passion for our sector of the industry and will keep up to date with the latest trends and evolving marketplace.

This position reports to Assistant General Manager, who in turn reports to the Managing Director.




● Providing excellent customer service

● Offering a welcoming environment to the client by offering a high standard of customer service

● Willing to build a long- term relationship with the client rather than a “one-shot” sell

● Building a strong client database by gathering all clients' information

● Ensure proper care is taken for all sales, paperwork, receipts and invoices, ect. Assist with shipping requests as needed

● Updating and reviewing customer wants list

● Performs other duties and assignments as required 


Familiarity with our Fine Jewelry

● Attend trainings and further development meetings as scheduled by jewelry manager or first floor manager

● Seek ongoing and continuing education of gemology

● Cultivate new and existing customer relationships.

● Deliver a significant portion of sales through repeat client business.

● Appropriately enter all important guest and product information into computer system at point of sale.

● Perform proper jewelry march (i.e. setting up floor) at opening and closing

● Actively participates in all merchandising activities including, but not limited to: daily stock maintenance, product transfers, and folding and floor changeovers

● Working with and giving feedback on products and sales to Sales Director and Founder during monthly meetings


The Ideal Candidate:


● Well-presented, mature, and conscientious person with positive attitude, sense of humor, ability to stay cool under pressure

● An entrepreneurial spirit with strong customer service skills and the ability to work candidly with clientele

● Experience and/or keen interest in gemstones and passion for fine jewelry

● Significant experience in the sale of fine jewelry or retail; Minimum 5 years relevant experience in retail roles  

● Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines        

● Communicative individual with great social competence 

● Team player who thrives in a team where work is a collaborative effort among many        

● Willingness to take on responsibilities outside a defined job scope

● Microsoft Office proficiency and Excel usage/analytical skills are a requirement   

● Detail oriented
